#FAQ: 10026-EN, Date: 7/9/2001

After validating and repairing my corrupt GDS 2000 PRO database, now I receive the following error message "BLOB NOT FOUND"

The information in this article applies to :
GDS 2000 PRO (English)
GDS 2000 PRO (French)

Description
When using GDS 2000 PRO in day-to-day operation, the database is sometimes subjected to events that pose minor problems to database structures. These events include:

- Abnormal termination of GDS 2000 PRO or INTERBASE application.

- Write errors in the operating system or hardware.

- Hardware failures.

Solution
When this kind of problems occurs, you need to repair the database with the "Validation" option of the "IBConsole" utility (See FAQ 10019-EN).

However, it can happen that else after validating the database, you still get problems with the database. In this case, to repair it completely, you need to backup and restore the database. Backing up and restoring the database force the database to be read and rewrite completely. By doing this operation you get a database in a perfect state.

Note that backup and restore operation on a database on a regular basis allow the database to be purged and improve it's performance.

To know how to do backup and restore operation of the GDS 2000 PRO database with the "IBConsole" utility, refer to the FAQ 10025-EN in the support section of our web site.

WARNING: It can hapen in rare occasions that the backup and restore operation of the database with the "IBConsole" utility doesn't fix the database completely. In this case, you need to use the command line utilities "gbak" and "gfix" included with INTERBASE and GDS 2000 PRO instead of using the "IBConsole" utility to repair the database. Refer to the FAQ 10027-EN in the support section of our web site or to the "Operations Guide" manual in the INTERBASE documentation (downloadable separately from the web site of INTERBASE at http://www.borland.com/interbase ) to know how to use the command line utilities "gbak" and "gfix".
