When I try to start NewWayService 2, I get the following error message:
Unable to complete network request to host "MyServer".
   Failed to locate host machine.

The information in this article applies to :
NewWayService 2.x (English)
NewWayService 2.x (French)

Description
It may happen that you get this kind of error message when you configure NewWayService 2 in network environment. If you correctly installed NewWayService 2 on the computer and the TCP/IP protocol is correctly installed and functional, in most cases, the problem is because some connection parameters have been mistyped.

Solution
Be sure that you correctly entered the server name (or its IP address) where is installed Interbase as well as the path (LOCAL) to the database. Also, be sure that the resolution of your server name (resolution from name to IP address) works fine.

If the following line is also present in the error message:
Undefined service gds_db/tcp

This indicates that an entry is missing in the Windows SERVICES file. (Usually, this entry is automatically added to this file by the installation program).

Here is how to verify and/or correct the situation:

1- Edit the Windows "SERVICES" file using a text editor such as the Windows NotePad utility.

(The file SERVICES is usually located in the "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\" folder under Windows NT,2000,2003 or XP and in the "C:\Winodws\" folder under Windows 95/98 or ME.

2- Be sure that the following entry is present in the file (Usually, this entry is at the end of the file):
gds_db 3050/tcp

3- If this entry is located at the end of the file, be also sure there is at least one blank line after it.

To add a blank line after this entry, position your cursor at the end of the line then type a carriage return (ENTER).

4- Save your changes (if you made some).

5- Try again NewWayService 2.
