| #FAQ: 10092-EN, Date: 3/16/2007 When I install OroMailCenter under Windows Vista, it can happen that I am not able to access the Windows control panel anymore. |
| The information in this article applies to : OroMailCenter 1.x (English) OroMailCenter 1.x (French) Description Indeed, when OroMailCenter is installed in multi-user mode under Windows Vista, and the option This computer will act as the server. The OroMailCenter database will be located on this computer is selected, the Firebird database engine is also installed at the same time.
At the Firebird Server installation time, an applet to manage the Firebird service is also installed in the Windows control panel. This applet is incompatible with the control panel of Windows Vista and results in an error message displayed when you try to access the Windows control panel. Solution To fix this problem, follow the steps below:
1- Download the last update 1.06 (or higher) of OroMailCenter: You can download this new update from the Downloads section of our web site. Warning: Download the full version instead of the update only version since Firebird Server is not included with the update only version. 2- Uninstall Firebird Server: From the Windows Start button, select All programs | Firebird_1_5 | Uninstall Firebird. 3- Reinstall OroMailCenter: Once the uninstallation of Firebird is done, reinstall OroMailCenter by executing the file you downloaded at the step #1 above. Select same options you did when you installed OroMailCenter initially (i.e. Installation in multi-user mode and This computer will act as the server. The OroMailCenter database will be located on this computer). This time, Firebird Server will be reinstalled but the applet that manages the Firebird service will not be installed if the installation program detects that the version of Windows is Vista. Please note that a new utility to manage OroMailCenter and Firebird services is now directly inclued with OroMailCenter. This file is named SRVMAN.EXE and is located in the OroMailCenter installation folder (usually C:\Program Files\OroLogic\OroMailCenter). Status Note that starting from version 1.06, this problem was fixed in the OroMailCenter installation program. |
