OroGesTemps 3.x (English)
OroGesTemps 3.x (French)

Description
When I run OroGesTemps 3.0, I get the following message: "Unable to open tha database, the application will shutdown."

Solution
This message appears at start-up, probably because OroGesTemps was not shutdown properly the last time it was used. This could happen for example, following a power failure or computer error. Since OroGesTemps 3.0 use database files to keep information, it is likely that some files may become corrupted following that kind of event. In these situations, you will have to run the "Database repair utility" in order to correct the problem. This utility, which allows you to fix corrupted files, is included with the software. Do the following steps to fix corrupted files problems :

1. Run the "Database repair utility"
2. In "Alias name" choose "OROGESTEM"
3. Check the check box "All the tables"
4. Click on "Rebuild"

At the end of this procedure, quit the utility and restart "OroGesTemps 3.0"

N.B.: Before you begin to rebuild files, ensure that no user access these files. Also a backup of your database files before rebuilding them is recommended.

In a network environment this situation could be related to another problem. In fact, you will get this message if "OroGesTemps 3.0" is unable to access the directory where the database is located. This could be caused by an inaccessible drive on the network or after a change in the network configuration. Let's say the database is located on remote drive, for example "F:\OROGESTEMPS", and is no longer available. It will appear to "OroGesTemps 3.0" as if the files were deleted or corrupted and will prevent you from running the software properly. First, make sure you are able to access the folder where your database files are located. Run the "Network configuration" utility if the files were moved. This utility let you specify to "OrogesTemps 3.0" the path to your database files. The following steps let you configure the new path :

1. Run the "Network configuration" utility
2. Select the network drive and the folder where the files are located
3. Click on "OK" to apply the changes

You can now restart OroGesTemps 3.0

For more information on "OroGesTemps 3.0" network configuration, go to the installation section in the user guide.
